WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Paired with industry partners, student teams design, build and battle light-weight robots in a head-on competition. Through every step of the process, BotsKC students hone valuable STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) skills as well as the intangibles of teamwork, competitive spirit and the pride of ownership. https://botskc.org/
In partnership with industry experts, NTMA has developed NTMA-U, a fully online program of modules developed for precision machining and related occupations. Modules are available individually, in groups of three, or in bulk for large groups of students (through the purchase of a portal). The Kansas City Chapter of the NTMA has purchased a portal for members. Members can use the portal for free, a $12,000 value per student enrolled in the portal. NTMA-U provides a number of significant benefits! •	Available anytime, anywhere with an Internet connection, thus removing the obstacle of traditional school schedules •	Rich, narrated modules with practice problems and assessments •	Content relates to NIMS specifications, textbooks available •	Certificates available for download after each module •	College credit-earning potential, with a partnership with University of Akron’s Mechanical Engineering Technology degree •	Federal Bureau of Apprenticeship Training approved

EMERGING LEADERS SPRING ENROLLMENT NOW OPEN

Emerging Leaders is a leadership development program in partnership with Johnson County Community College, KCMN and KC NTMA. Our goal is to create opportunities for those who want to: Improve their leadership and management skills Learn new strategies, and Connect with others with similar goals. As of February, we have had over 600 enrollments with participants from 52 companies, and 61 are enrolled in our current Winter offerings. Tier 1 and Tier 2 sessions began in January (see below), and this Spring we’ll be offering Tier 3/Career Skills. While the names imply that you must go in order, each are 6 standalone classes that were suggested by KCMN and NTMA members as management concepts that would enable them, or their managers and supervisors, to become more effective leaders. Plans will be launched soon for our Fall 2019 offerings. If you’d like a voice in planning our Emerging Leaders offerings for the Spring, please contact Donna Gordon at donna@kcmn.org, or 816-304-7958.
Testimonials:
“These classes are always practical, and applicable to my job”
“The employees’ attitudes improve, enjoy being developed, and look at the classes as a real opportunity, both for themselves and the company.”
“George Ferguson is great at getting the groups to interact together. This interaction to me is where the value is.”
“It forces me to take the time to focus on bigger picture items that busy schedules sometimes do not allow for.”

EMERGING LEADERS SESSIONS:

Dates and Time: All Emerging Leaders Programs include 6 sessions – see dates and times below – at JCCC campus. The cost: $300 per participant, to be paid in full no later than 10 days before the start of the first session class. You may sign up and pay online by clicking on the link for each session. If you wish to be invoiced, you may use the sign up link and choose the ‘pay by check’ option.

FAQ’s

Each Tier was developed as a result of KCMN and KC-NTMA member’s feedback as to skills important for their people to learn or improve. The ‘Tier 1, 2, 3’ implies that you need to go in order, it is not required – this is just the order we developed them in. Unlike in house training programs, Emerging Leaders helps build skills from both a formal classroom presentation, as well as guided interaction with other manufacturers. There is no in-house option for this program. There are 30 spaces available for each session on a first-come basis. Some past sessions have sold out, so please don’t delay. We need a minimum of 20 participants to fill a session. Participants who attend at least 5 of 6 sessions will receive a Certificate at our final session. Those who miss more than one session are welcome to return to future sessions to make up any sessions mixed at no charge. Questions? Contact Donna Gordon if you prefer to be invoiced, or if you have additional questions, at donna@kcmn.org or 816-304-7958
